Chapter 23 The Lee Shore 

all deep, earnest thinking is but the intrepid effort of the soul to keep the open independence of her sea

Such poetic language in this chapter. It’s my favorite so far. This “six-inch chapter is the stoneless grave of Bulkington,” the mariner we briefly met at the inn in New Bedford.
